The Parasol Bearer

A single figure stands centred in flat black, a blue patterned tunic at the chest, a red parasol above. Either side the crowd is built from dense vertical white line, black faces and red hats; two large swirling heads with wide eyes sit in the bottom corners, and a black archway opens at the upper right.

The one figure in solid colour against a field of scratched line — the contrast does all the work. The most economical composition of the series and the easiest to live with.
