The Weaver’s Alphabet

A totemic figure with an ovoid head stands at the centre, ringed by fish, leaves, patterned panels and interlocking geometry. Cobalt, teal, emerald, tangerine, lemon, coral, lavender — flat colour laid in mosaic blocks, with hatching scored into the paint as though the canvas had been woven before it was painted. The border is painted in: part of the work, not a frame around it.

The most extroverted piece in the collection. It holds a wall on its own and flatters whitewash, brass and terracotta.
